Tiller offers an easy way to share access to your Tiller account. This is helpful if you need to share your account with your spouse, business partner, financial advisor or another financial professional. You can add up to 5 secondary users.
π After you grant access to someone using the steps below they will need to visit https://my.tiller.com/secondary to join the account.
When you add someone as a secondary user to your Tiller account they will be able to access and use the following features:
Log in to the Console using the email address you used to invite them
Open Google Sheets that you have shared with that email address
Unlink spreadsheets
Refresh accounts using the "Refresh Accounts" button (if this feature is available for your account)
Rename an account
Create/link a new spreadsheet
Modify Hello, Money settings
Launch and use all features in Tiller Money Feeds
Make changes to settings including hiding/showing balances on the Console & giving Tiller support permission to view transactions
They will not be able to perform the following actions:
Make changes to the subscription/billing details
Add financial institutions
Manually refresh individual institutions
Remove an institution connection
Add manual accounts
Import CSVs
Delete CSV Imports
Remove or add secondary users
Start a conversation with support via the chat tool
How to add a secondary user
Navigate to the Settings page on the Tiller Console at https://my.tiller.com/settings
Click "Add user" under the Secondary users option at the bottom
Enter the email address of the user you would like to invite. Make sure this email address is associated with a Google or Microsoft account.
Let the person know that they have to visit this URL to join your account as a secondary user: https://my.tiller.com/secondary - They should see a message that says "joining account"
If someone runs into an issue joining the account (i.e. see a "no account found" page) they should reach out to support without taking any further action. Emphasize that they should NOT create a Tiller account if they get a "no account found" error.
After they've joined using that URL they can go directly to the Tiller Console at https://my.tiller.com
Make sure you've shared your spreadsheet with that user so when they try to open the spreadsheet they'll have access.
How it works
A secondary user is added to your account via the email address you use to invite them after visiting https://my.tiller.com/secondary and choosing how they want to log in (Google or Microsoft). Be sure to use an email address that is associated with one of those types of logins. From that point forward they will need to log in with that identity (Google account + that email or Microsoft account + that email).
They'll show up in our system as a secondary user to your account. For now, the support chat tool is limited to the primary user's account only.
Access to spreadsheets
For Google Sheers users, make sure you've shared the Google Sheets they'll need to access with the Google / gmail address that they'll use to log in to Tiller. More on sharing and permissions in Google Sheets here.
For Excel users, if your workbook is not stored on OneDrive or on a computer you both have access to you may run into issues with the workbook getting linked multiple times. The best experience is to use a workbook stored on OneDrive and just be sure the person has edit access to it.
If a secondary user links/creates a new Google spreadsheet under your account they will be the owner of that spreadsheet and will need to share it with you as the primary account holder.
In Google Sheets, their edits, including fills, will show up under their Google user in the version history so you can always see what edits were made.
Secondary users will not have access to spreadsheets you do not explicitly share with them. The secondary user features are only giving access to permission and features that Tiller controls, and since you own your spreadsheet, at this time we can't give them access to it.
Adding financial institutions
If your secondary user needs to add financial institutions you'll have to sit down with them to do that from your primary account. If that account requires MFA they will need to be present anytime the refresh happens in order to get the MFA code from their phone.
Limitations
You cannot invite an email address that is associated with a Tiller user already, even if the user's account is canceled. Write to support if you'd like to use an email associated with a canceled Tiller account and we can delete that user account so you'll be able to use it.
The same email address cannot be used as the secondary for more than one Tiller account.
You will need to share your spreadsheets with secondary users in order for them to access the spreadsheet.
